Deputy Clerk of the Nairobi County Assembly MONICAH MUTHAMI, 57, on the spot for keeping a 19-year-old Kabarak University student as a BEN 10 in her house - Student’s parents send her a demand letter

Thursday, October 8, 2026 - Deputy Clerk of the Nairobi County Assembly, Monicah M. Muthami, 57, has been put on the spot after the parents of a 19-year-old Kabarak University student instructed a lawyer to send her a demand letter.

The parents of Ian Mutinda Mumo allege that after selling their only piece of land to raise about Ksh 300,000, they paid his university fees in full and sent him to Kabarak University in September 2025.

However, they claim Muthami later took their son from the university and is currently keeping him at her house in Nairobi.

The two are said to be involved in a romantic relationship.

The parents fear that their son is abandoning his studies and say the romantic relationship is harmful to his future.

The dispute has reportedly attracted the attention of village elders, pastors, the area chief and other community leaders.

The two are said to come from the same village in Kitui, with local leaders now reportedly involved in efforts to resolve the matter.
