Tuesday, June 2, 2026 - There was a security scare
during Madaraka Day celebrations after a middle-aged man attempted to attack
Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro while he was addressing members of the public.
In a video circulating online, Governor Mung’aro is seen
calmly delivering his speech, unaware of the looming danger.
Moments later, a man suddenly emerged from the crowd and
charged towards the podium in an apparent attempt to attack the Governor.
The Governor’s security team reacted swiftly and restrained
the suspect before he could reach Mung’aro.
Reports indicate that the man was found in possession of a
knife.
The suspect behind the failed attack has been identified as
Baraka Chula, who is said to be an activist.
Photos of the suspect have since surfaced online as investigations into the incident continue.
