- A section of Kenyans on social media has cautioned Nairobi Senator and Linda
Mwananchi faction leader, Edwin Sifuna, against relying on helicopters for
travel.
The warnings came after Sifuna shared a photo of himself
disembarking from a chopper in Nyeri, where he attended the funeral of Annah
Ndung’u, mother to former MP Kanini Kega.
He was accompanied by Majimbo Kalasinga, Senator Godfrey
Osotsi, and political strategist Pauline Njoroge.
Supporters quickly voiced their unease, urging him to stick
to cars or even motorcycles.
One netizen quipped: “Mambo ya chopper tulisema ukipanda make sure
kuna Aaron Cheruiyot au Oscar Sudi kwa cockpit.”
Another added humorously: “Tuko tayari kutembea kwa miguu ukiwa kwa gari
kutoka Nairobi hadi Nyeri.”
Others expressed outright fear: “Chopper bana inanipea wasiwasi.”
The reactions reflect a broader public unease with
opposition leaders using helicopters, given Kenya’s history of prominent
figures dying in crashes under unclear circumstances.
For Sifuna, the concern comes at a time when his political
profile is rising sharply.
Sifuna has emerged as a vocal critic of President William
Ruto and vowed to block his re-election in 2027. He is increasingly seen as a
rising force in opposition politics.
