Thursday, October 2, 2025 - Dorothy Otieno, the third wife of the late former Rongo MP, Dalmas Otieno, has been appointed Director for Social Programmes at State House.
She made the announcement during her husband’s burial in
Rongo on Thursday, October 2nd, expressing heartfelt gratitude to
President William Ruto for the prestigious role.
Dorothy revealed that the appointment had come earlier but
chose to delay the news until after the funeral.
“I want this message to reach His Excellency the President,
my party leader, and thank him for appointing me.”
“The appointment came earlier, but speaking about it - especially
alongside my husband’s passing - was difficult.”
“I chose to wait until we concluded his funeral before
celebrating, just as Job did: he mourned first, then celebrated,” she said.
Dorothy also declared her intention to vie for the Rongo
parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, signaling a continuation of
her family’s political legacy.
Dalmas Otieno, a seasoned politician and former Cabinet Minister,
was known for his political independence and once attempted to form the
‘Kalausi’ party to challenge Raila Odinga and ODM’s dominance in Nyanza.
