Wednesday, October
22, 2025 - Officials from the Orange
Democratic Movement (ODM) have appealed to the public to help
identify a man captured on CCTV stealing vital broadcast equipment from an Azimio TV van in Nairobi.
The incident occurred at the Total Energies carwash in Hurlingham, where
the Azimio TV crew had parked their van for cleaning as they awaited the
arrival of the body of ODM party leader, Raila
Amolo Odinga, at the Lee
Funeral Home.
According to ODM
Communications Director Philip Etale, the unidentified suspect
entered the carwash premises and walked away with a bag containing crucial
equipment, including a laptop
and several hard drives.
The stolen items reportedly contained sensitive media files
and logistical data related to the Azimio coalition’s operations.
Security footage shows the suspect moving calmly through the
compound, raising questions about how the theft went unnoticed.
Police have since launched investigations, but no arrests
have been made so far.
It remains unclear whether the suspect acted alone or had
accomplices.
ODM officials have urged anyone with information regarding
the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact
local police or the party’s offices directly.
“Someone please help us identify the man captured by the
CCTV cameras at Total Energies Hurlingham. He walked into the carwash where the
AzimioTv van was being cleaned as the crew awaited the arrival of the body of
HE Raila Odinga at Lee Funeral Home and took the bag that had vital equipment
including a laptop and hard drives that contained a lot… the man is wearing
black and is seen walking nonchalantly as if he has done nothing. We shall
appreciate,” Etale posted.
