22, 2025 - Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics
Unit (ANU) have arrested two women believed to be part of a drug
distribution network operating within Mombasa and its outskirts, as authorities
tighten the noose on narcotics trafficking in the coastal city.
Acting on a tip-off, the officers first raided a house in Bombolulu, where 48-year-old Mary Achieng had allegedly
turned her residence into a secret stash point.
A meticulous search of the premises led to the recovery of 58 large rolls of bhang, weighing
approximately 8 kilograms, all
cleverly concealed in the ceiling of
her toilet.
In a separate operation in Tudor’s Moroto area, detectives arrested 42-year-old Farhiya Hassan Moulid Ajorani.
A search of her home uncovered 8 large rolls of bhang, along with 36 small rolls, 30 medium rolls, and 10 additional small rolls found inside her handbag - all packaged
and ready for sale.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing processing ahead of their
arraignment.
Police say the operations are part of an ongoing effort to dismantle drug networks supplying narcotics across the Coast region.
