Tuesday, June 17, 2025 - A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after a group of state-sponsored goons were captured on camera attacking peaceful protesters in Nairobi’s Central Business District while being escorted by anti-riot police officers.
In the video, the rowdy young men, armed with clubs and
stones, are seen descending on unarmed demonstrators, dispersing them
violently.
Several protesters can be seen running for safety as the
attackers throw stones.
What has enraged Kenyans most is the apparent collaboration
between the goons and the police officers.
Instead of stopping the attackers, the officers appear to be
guarding them as they throw stones to the protesters.
Eyewitnesses claim the goons were dropped off in unmarked
vehicles shortly before the violence erupted.
This is not the first time such incidents have been
reported.
Human rights organizations have long accused the Government
of deploying goons to infiltrate peaceful protests.
