Tuesday, June 17, 2025 - Drama unfolded in Nairobi’s Central Business District after a group of youthful protesters set ablaze a motorbike belonging to a hired goon accused of infiltrating a peaceful demonstration.
The suspected goon, believed to have been planted among the
demonstrators to cause chaos, was identified and cornered by protesters.
In the chaos that followed, his motorbike was doused with a
flammable substance and set alight.
Bod boda riders who operate in Nairobi CBD joined the
protesters in beating up the goon before torching his motorbike.
The riders accused the goons of tainting their image.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over the
infiltration of protests by hired goons, allegedly paid to discredit genuine
demonstrators or incite violence.
Civil society groups have condemned the trend and called on
authorities to investigate those funding and deploying such individuals.
