TRAGEDY as two JKUAT students drown while swimming at the popular 'Park and Chill' Spot in Juja

Monday, March 3, 2025 - Police have launched investigations into the tragic drowning of two Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) students at a popular ‘park and chill’ spot in Mugutha, Juja Sub-county, Kiambu.

According to a police report, the deceased, both male students aged 21 and 22, had visited the site on Sunday, March 2nd, 2025, to have a good time.

However, their outing turned fatal when they drowned while swimming in the dam.

Their bodies were retrieved on Sunday by Kiambu County divers and taken to the General Kago Funeral Home as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

Eyewitnesses recounted hearing desperate cries for help but were unable to intervene in time.

This incident is not the first at the infamous site.

In January 2023, the location made headlines when a man and a woman died after their car plunged into the dam.

Following that tragedy, the area was fenced off, and a restaurant and bar were established with motorists charged Ksh.100 for entry.
