Monday, March 10, 2025 - There was drama outside Jamia Mosque in Nairobi Central Business District after members of the public rescued a young man from rogue police officers after a kidnapping attempt.
The plainclothes officers confronted the victim along the
busy street and handcuffed him, leading to an altercation.
Members of the public who had gathered near the mosque
intervened and ordered the two men to produce their identity cards to prove
that they were police officers.
“ID iko wapi. Nyinyi ndio mnaabduct watu,” a man was heard lamenting as a heated argument ensued.
The rowdy crowd threatened to lynch the officers and ordered
the victim to be set free.
One of the cops escaped when the situation escalated,
leaving his colleague behind.
The victim was eventually set free.
