DJ KROWBAR opens up on what he misses most about his late wife JOYCE WANJIRU - 'I just miss her sitting there'

Saturday, September 19, 2026 – Veteran award‑winning Kenyan gospel DJ Fredrick Karumba, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has opened up about the memories he treasures most of his late wife, Joyce Wanjiru Karumba.

Speaking on Friday, September 18, 2026, the celebrated DJ recalled how Joyce played a pivotal role in his journey, shaping the man and the artist he became.

He narrated how she would sit and record him as he played.

“The DJ I became, my wife played a huge role in the DJ I became. I love playing, and playing does good things to me.

"And sometimes I just miss her sitting there. And recording me as I am playing,” he shared.

Krowbar also fondly remembered her humorous side, especially her playful dancing.

“She was not a good dancer… I miss those funny dances. I like it when I have good memories of her,” he said, noting that such moments continue to give him strength.

His reflection comes shortly after marking what would have been their 17th wedding anniversary.

On September 3, 2026, he posted photos from their last date together, taken the previous year when Joyce had just been discharged from hospital following a transplant procedure.

Though visibly swollen from treatment, she insisted on celebrating privately with him, as her immunity was still fragile.

Joyce later passed away, leaving behind Krowbar and their three children, whose lives have been deeply shaped by her love and resilience.

Krowbar has often spoken about the challenge of raising them without her, but also about the inspiration they draw from her memory.
