Rogue city council askaris captured on camera viciously assaulting a hawker who tried to flee after arrest in Nairobi CBD - These “kanjos” are merciless (VIDEO)

Friday, August 21, 2026 - A hawker was cornered and physically assaulted by city council askaris after attempting to flee during a swoop in Nairobi CBD.

The Maasai hawker was going about his business in the busy streets of Nairobi CBD when he was arrested, along with other hawkers, during the operation.

As the askaris opened a lorry to load the arrested hawkers, he managed to slip away and took off running.

However, the officers gave chase as curious passersby watched the dramatic incident unfold.

The askaris eventually caught up with the hawker and physically assaulted him before bundling him into the waiting lorry.
