Wednesday, August 5, 2026- Detectives from Kayole Police Station have arrested one of the suspects linked to the daring robbery that disrupted a women's chama meeting at a salon in Saika Estate, Nairobi, on July 26, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Macharia, alias Mahua, was
arrested following an intelligence-led operation conducted in the Korogocho
area.
According to police, Macharia and an accomplice, who is
still on the run, stormed the salon while armed with a pistol and terrorized
the women before making away with KSh 50,000 in cash and several mobile phones.
The robbery, which was captured on CCTV footage and widely
shared on social media, sparked public outrage after showing the armed men
calmly carrying out the raid as the terrified victims complied with their
demands.
During the arrest, detectives recovered a motorcycle,
registration number KMDE 473B, believed to have been used by the suspects to
flee after the robbery.
Police also recovered two knives, which have been secured as
exhibits to aid in the ongoing investigations.
Macharia is currently being processed ahead of his arraignment in court, while detectives continue pursuing fresh leads to track down and arrest his accomplice, who remains at large.
