GACHAGUA responds to DCI Boss AMIN over claims he was in contact with main suspect in Dr. VICTORIA MUTISO’s murder — ‘I’m Above the Level of DCI and the Police’

Friday, August 07, 2026 - DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua has told the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin that he is ready to record a statement regarding how he obtained intelligence on the murder of Dr. Victoria Mutiso.

Speaking in Kiambu on Friday, August 7, Gachagua dismissed claims by Amin that he had been in contact with one of the suspects arrested in connection with the fatal shooting.

The former Deputy President insisted that Amin should visit him at his Wamunyoro residence if he wanted a statement, declaring he was “too big” to present himself at DCI headquarters.

“I am above the level of DCI and the police,” Gachagua said, adding that Amin was attempting to implicate him simply because he had disclosed classified information.

He accused Amin of trying to cover up the murder under instructions from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, and claimed to possess a dossier naming police officers allegedly involved in attacks on worshippers at Witima Church.

Earlier, Amin had alleged that investigations established Gachagua was in communication with one of the prime suspects and a boda boda rider who ferried the suspect to the crime scene.

“Unfortunately, what came out very clearly is that Hon. Rigathi Gachagua was in communication with one of our main suspects,” Amin stated, adding that if Gachagua meant well, he should have shared the information privately rather than publicly.

Amin further revealed that two police officers were implicated in the murder as Constable Elijah Kibelion Kemboi, accused of pulling the trigger, and Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, alleged to have sourced the weapon.

A boda boda rider was also arrested, while Daniel Mwangi Njoroge and Kelvin Ngugi Kinuthia are suspected of organizing the operation.
