U.S. increases number of Kenyans in 'worst of worst' list facing immediate deportation to 45 amid immigration crackdown

Wednesday, June 03, 2026 - President Donald Trump’s administration has sharply increased the number of Kenyans identified for detention and deportation over alleged immigration violations from 15 to 45 individuals.

The figures, released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), highlight a growing crackdown on undocumented immigrants classified as priority cases due to criminal records.

The names appear in a database known as “Worst of Worst”, launched in December last year to track illegal immigrants arrested or convicted of crimes across all 50 states.

The online portal publishes details including mugshots, countries of origin and offences committed.

A review of the database shows the 45 Kenyans are linked to serious crimes ranging from drug trafficking, armed robbery, homicide and assault.

Other offences cited include aggravated assault with a weapon, terror-related threats, money laundering, cheque forgery, fraud, violation of court orders and receiving stolen property.

Some have also been accused or convicted of driving under the influence, domestic violence and attempting to evade prosecution.

DHS officials said the database was created to enhance transparency and provide public information on undocumented immigrants arrested in recent months.

The increase in Kenyans featured on the list comes amid intensified immigration enforcement under Trump’s administration, which has seen heightened inspections, arrests and detentions.

To accelerate removals, the U.S. Government has also introduced a self-deportation mobile application allowing undocumented immigrants to voluntarily depart before facing arrest.

The program offers financial incentives of up to Ksh387,000 and travel assistance, part of a broader strategy to reduce the undocumented population while encouraging voluntary compliance.
