Tuesday, June 02, 2026 - Renowned Eldoret farmer, George Kili, and his family are once again in mourning following the heartbreaking death of his daughter, June Chebet, in Australia.

The tragedy comes less than two years after the family lost their son, Rodney Kili, in a farm accident in Moiben, Uasin Gishu County.

In a statement, the University of Newcastle Community Leadership confirmed that Chebet died on Monday, June 1st, while receiving treatment at Calvary Mater Hospital in New South Wales, Australia.

“It is with profound sorrow and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. June Chebet Kili… while she was receiving treatment,” the statement read.

Chebet had been pursuing her studies at the University of Newcastle since 2024 and was eagerly anticipating her graduation scheduled for June 26th, 2026.

Her passing has left family, friends and the wider community devastated.

The Kili family’s grief is compounded by memories of Rodney, who died in October 2024 after being crushed by farm machinery.
