A concerned social media user has reported an extortion incident involving four
men said to be operating near Sarit Centre, outside Barrels and Stools Lounge
in Nairobi.
According to a post on X, the incident is said to have
occurred yesterday around 5pm in slow-moving traffic, where four men, three
dressed in blue uniforms and one in plain clothes, were seen stopping vehicles
and approaching motorists directly.
The individuals were purporting to be Nairobi County
officers and were entering private vehicles while fabricating offences against
drivers.
They demanded payments of up to KSh 50,000, warning
motorists of possible arrest and detention in county cells if they failed to
comply.
The reports further claim that the men would open car doors and forcefully get inside vehicles, raising serious safety concerns among motorists.
