Exposing Nakuru’s most corrupt traffic police officer - He is well-connected and has not been transferred for 18 years despite multiple complaints (PHOTOs)

Wednesday, May 27, 2026 - Social media activist, Michael Makarina, has raised serious allegations against a traffic police officer attached to the Rift Valley Regional Police Headquarters in Nakuru County.

In a lengthy post, Makarina accused Sgt. Silvester Ekiru, service number 77004, of operating with unchecked power and intimidating both motorists and fellow police officers across the county.

The officer, who reportedly serves as a driver and traffic officer within the regional police command, has remained stationed in the region for more than 18 years despite routine police transfers affecting other officers.

The activist questioned how the officer has managed to avoid transfers over the years while others are frequently redeployed.

“How does one officer stay in one region for over 18 years while countless others are transferred regularly? Whenever transfer letters are issued, others pack and leave, but his allegedly disappears or gets cancelled,” part of the statement read.

Makarina further alleged that junior officers and some senior officers have been subjected to intimidation and fear due to the officer’s influence and connections within the service.

Among the accusations raised are claims that Sgt. Ekiru intimidates officers who question him, boasts about being untouchable due to powerful connections, refuses to report to new stations after transfers, harasses motorists through alleged arbitrary arrests and extortion, holds impounded vehicles and motorcycles beyond normal procedures and influences transfers and deployments within Nakuru.

The activist also alleged that some motorists are arrested on questionable grounds, with claims that false traffic offences are sometimes created instead of following proper legal procedures.

“Why should Nakuru motorists continue living in fear because of one officer operating as if he owns the county?” he posed.
