Thursday, May 14, 2026 - A team of Law Enforcement Officers based at Kayole Police Station have arrested three suspects recovering a Retay Falcon pistol along Kangundo Road.
The drama unfolded near Saika stage when alert officers on
patrol spotted a motorcycle carrying a rider and two pillion passengers
approaching.
However, upon noticing the police officers, the motorcycle
sped off into Saika Estate, raising immediate suspicion and triggering a swift
police pursuit.
Officers moved in fast and successfully intercepted the
motorcycle.
The two pillion passengers jumped off and scattered in
different directions, sparking a foot chase through the busy neighbourhood.
During the pursuit, one of the suspects, later identified as
19-year-old Shem Kariuki Ondieki, dropped an object as he fled.
Officers later cornered and arrested him before returning to
inspect what had fallen.
Lying on the ground was a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with 10
rounds of 9mm ammunition: a deadly find that signalled the suspects may have
been on a far more dangerous mission than an ordinary boda boda ride.
The motorcycle rider, 19-year-old Emanuel Maina Kioi, was
also arrested at the scene.
Detectives immediately launched a manhunt for the third
suspect who had vanished into the sprawling estates of Eastlands.
The trail led officers deep into Dandora Phase Four, where
they stormed a house linked to the suspect Samwel Okoth Ochieng, arresting him
in the house.
Recovered from the house were a Ceska pistol magazine loaded
with 16 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 62 assorted mobile phones, assorted
electronic items, a Mercedes-Benz ignition key and several other incriminating
items.
The suspects are currently being held at Kayole Police Station undergoing processing pending arraignment, as officers widen investigations into what is suspected to be an organised criminal syndicate operating within Nairobi’s Eastlands.
