2026 - Mombasa Governor, Abdulswamad Nassir, has launched a scathing attack
on Linda Mwananchi leaders, Senator Edwin Sifuna and MP Babu Owino, accusing
them of hypocrisy after their visit to the grave of the late ODM leader, Raila
Odinga, in Bondo.
Speaking on Monday, April 27th, Nassir alleged
that some of those now mourning Raila had wished him dead while he was alive.
He dismissed their gestures as pretentious, claiming that they
abandoned ODM to pursue personal ambitions.
“We honour the name of Baba, although we have naysayers;
those who left the party and pretend to shed tears at Raila’s grave, yet when
he was alive, they wanted him to die,” Nassir said.
Nassir made the remarks while announcing that a new level‑four
hospital under construction in Kongowea will be named after Raila Odinga.
He explained that the Raila Odinga Kongowea Hospital will
honour the former premier’s commitment to equal healthcare access for all
Kenyans.
“Baba believed every Kenyan should have access to medical
care irrespective of tribe or status,” Nassir reiterated.
