Monday, 2 March 2026 - A somber mood has engulfed Chuka University following a heartbreaking incident involving a second-year student, Claire, and her boyfriend, Kelvin.
According to reports, Claire
and Kelvin had gone out drinking.
On their way back to the
hostels, a misunderstanding escalated into violence.
Claire alleges that Kelvin, a
2nd
year Bachelor of Science in Engineering
student, began assaulting her, and in a bid to defend herself she fatally
stabbed him.
After the incident, Claire
disappeared probably having felt overwhelmed and uncertain of how to explain
the events to her family.
Struggling with guilt and
pressure, she ultimately took her own life.
In her final notes, Claire narrated what had happened and offered heartfelt apologies to both her parents and her boyfriend’s family, expressing remorse for the pain caused.
