Tuesday, March 31, 2026 - A video circulating online has sparked outrage after capturing a police officer threatening a young Kenyan man following his arrest.
In the clip, the officer is heard saying, “Niko na
bunduki. Nitakutandika marisasi, utanipeleka wapi? Si ni kortini tu?” - loosely
translating to a threat that he could shoot the man and face minimal
consequences after being arraigned in court.
The officer further suggests that he will easily secure
release on bond, while implying that the young man could lose his life without
getting justice.
The video has triggered widespread condemnation, with a
section of Kenyans calling for immediate action against the officer and raising
concerns about abuse of power within the police service.
