2026 - Grief and disbelief filled AGC Karen as leaders, family, and friends
gathered to honor the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Johana Ng’eno.
Among the most heartfelt tributes came from Narok Governor
Patrick Ole Ntutu, who described the tragedy as “the saddest day of my life.”
Ntutu revealed that Ng’eno was not only a political ally but
also his son‑in‑law, married to his daughter.
“I lost my son‑in‑law, who is the husband to my daughter, Johana,”
he said, adding that he also mourned his personal officer, Rono, the pilot, and
other young men from Narok County who perished in the crash.
The Governor recounted his final conversation with Ng’eno on
the morning of the accident.
The MP had called to invite him to Nandi, where he planned
to issue bursary cheques to needy students in Kapsasain Ward.
Ntutu explained that he was far away in Maji Moto, but
Ng’eno laughed off the distance:
“Governor, I have a chopper, I can pick you and then you can join
me later.” Ntutu reflected.
“Little did I know that was the last day I was going to talk to my
friend and son‑in‑law.”
The memorial service drew leaders across the political
divide, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, whom Ntutu
thanked for swiftly coordinating support after the crash.
He also expressed gratitude to residents of Nandi and Uasin
Gishu for standing with the bereaved families.
Ng’eno was remembered as a leader passionate about education
and youth empowerment, with his planned bursary event underscoring his
dedication to uplifting students.
“To the people of Kenya, we have lost a man who has done so much
for his people. Death is very cruel.” Ntuntu stated.
