Monday, February 23, 2026 - The ongoing security crackdown across the Coast region has recorded another breakthrough following the arrest of a suspected robbery suspect in Mtwapa.
Detectives apprehended David Juma Mweru, who had reportedly been on the radar of security agencies over alleged involvement in a series of robbery incidents.
According to investigators, the suspect had previously managed to evade arrest by frequently changing hideouts in an attempt to avoid detection.
Acting on intelligence leads, officers tracked him down and arrested him.
A subsequent search at his residence led to the recovery of five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition wrapped in a yellow carrier bag.
Authorities say the discovery raises concerns over possible violent activity and are working to establish whether the ammunition is linked to any past criminal incidents.
Mweru is currently in custody as detectives continue with investigations to determine the full scope of his alleged activities and identify any potential accomplices.
Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to sustaining the crackdown on criminal networks operating within the Coast region, noting that operations will continue as part of broader efforts to enhance public safety and restore confidence among residents.
