‘We would have buried RAILA in 2023’ - KALONZO drops bombshell after visiting BABA’s grave in Bondo

Thursday, November 06, 2025 - Wiper Party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, has made a startling revelation about a near-fatal attack on the late opposition leader, Raila Odinga, during the 2023 anti-Government protests.

Speaking on Thursday, November 6th, 2025, during a high-profile visit to Raila’s grave in Bondo, Kalonzo disclosed that police fired ten bullets at Raila’s vehicle in what he described as an assassination attempt.

“If it were not that he was having an armored vehicle, we would have buried him in 2023,” Kalonzo said, recounting their dramatic escape from Embakasi South.

He claimed that the orders that day appeared to be “mainly to kill Raila Odinga.”

The Wiper delegation, led by Kalonzo, presented 150 heads of cattle to the Odinga family, a traditional gesture of respect and solidarity.

Dressed in jungle green and carrying a spear and shield, Kalonzo was received by Mama Ida Odinga at Kango Ka Jaramogi, where Raila was laid to rest.

He led mourners in chanting “Jowi! Jowi!” - a Luo expression honoring fallen heroes - and reaffirmed Raila’s enduring legacy.

“Raila will be more powerful in death than in life. He inspired young Kenyans,” Kalonzo said.

The delegation included Governors Wavinya Ndeti and Mutula Kilonzo Jr., Ukambani elders, religious leaders, and MPs.

They laid wreaths and offered prayers, vowing to continue Raila’s fight for democracy and devolution.
