Thursday, November
06, 2025 - Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader and United Opposition
principal, Kalonzo Musyoka, has confirmed that former Deputy President Rigathi
Gachagua will visit the late Raila Odinga’s grave at Opoda Farm in Bondo, Siaya
County, to pay his respects.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Thursday, November 6th,
Kalonzo said Gachagua will make the visit after the upcoming November 27th
by-elections.
“Riggy G will look for time and come to mourn our late
brother Raila.”
“I spoke to Gachagua last night, and he will come to pay his
last respects,” Kalonzo stated, noting that ongoing campaign activities had
delayed the visit.
Tensions remain high around Gachagua’s anticipated trip,
especially after he skipped Raila’s State Funeral in October 18th.
A section of ODM leaders have warned him against visiting
Bondo, citing inflammatory remarks made by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, who appeared
to celebrate Raila’s death.
ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga accused Gachagua of
orchestrating the comments, calling Kahiga his “mouthpiece.”
Despite the political tension, Raila’s family, led by his
son, Raila Odinga Junior, has welcomed all mourners regardless of political
affiliation.
Kalonzo, who was en route to Bondo, was accompanied
by Wiper allies and Gachagua’s associates.
Earlier, he held a meeting in Kisumu with Governor Anyang’
Nyong’o, alongside Governors Mutula Kilonzo Jr. and Wavinya Ndeti.
