GACHAGUA trains his guns at IEBC vice chair, FAHIMA ABDALLAH, accuses her of a plot to manipulate Magarini by-election

Monday, November 24, 2025 - Democratic Congress Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, has launched a scathing attack at Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice Chairperson, Fahima Araphat Abdallah, accusing her of attempting to interfere with the upcoming Magarini Constituency by-election slated for November 27th, 2025.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Monday, November 24th, Gachagua alleged that Abdallah has engaged in “self-assigned and reckless conduct” aimed at favoring Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro’s preferred candidate.

He claimed that Abdallah, who hails from the Coast region, has violated IEBC policy that bars commissioners from overseeing elections in their home areas.

According to Gachagua, Abdallah traveled to Magarini on Friday, November 21st, where she allegedly intimidated electoral officials and demanded a full list of Presiding Officers and their contacts.

Later that evening, she is said to have met Governor Mung’aro and Coast Regional Commissioner, Dr. Alutala Mukhwana, at a Malindi hotel, where “bribery negotiations” reportedly took place.

The former Deputy President insisted that the meeting was designed to exchange officer details for instructions on how to manipulate the polls.

He urged IEBC Chairman Erastus Edung Ethekon to protect electoral officials and Magarini residents from harassment, while calling for Abdallah’s immediate removal and a thorough investigation into her conduct.

Gachagua further questioned IEBC’s credibility ahead of the 2027 General Elections, warning that alleged malpractice undermines public trust.

“Mr. Chairman, while Kenyans kept quiet, they doubted your impartiality. You could have used the November 27 by-elections to prove otherwise,” he said.

The accusations have heightened tension ahead of the Magarini vote, with IEBC yet to respond to the claims.
