A middle-aged woman charged for stealing over Ksh 2.6 million from Equity Bank (PHOTO)



Wednesday, September 10, 2025 - A middle-aged woman has been arraigned before a Nairobi court on charges of stealing more than Ksh 2.6 million from Equity Bank.

The suspect, Regina Ndanga Kamunzyu, appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina, where she was charged with conspiring with others, already facing trial, to steal Ksh 2,657,360, property of the bank.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offences took place between February 12th and May 9th, 2024, at Equity Bank in Nairobi.

In a separate count, Regina faced an additional accusation of stealing Ksh 686,466, also belonging to the bank.

As an alternative charge, she was accused of receiving money through her Equity Bank account, knowing or having reason to believe that it had been stolen.

Regina pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The court ordered that she remain in custody until September 11th, 2025, when directions on her bail and bond terms will be issued.
