VIDEO! Chaos at Mayenje Primary School in Busia as angry pupils raid headteacher’s home and threaten to torch it, forcing him to hide

Monday, July 21, 2025 - There was drama at Mayenje Primary School in Busia after a group of angry pupils staged an unprecedented protest, storming the home of their headteacher and threatening to set it ablaze.

A video shared online shows the uniformed pupils shouting, chanting, and banging on the gate of the headteacher’s residence, located just a short distance from the school compound.

Some of the pupils can be seen wielding large sticks, while others carry leafy twigs, symbols often used during protests in Kenya.

Witnesses say the students were enraged over an alleged incident involving a football competition in which they were participating.

According to reports, the tournament had a cash prize, and the pupils believed they had a strong chance of winning, but their own headteacher sabotaged the match.”

“He sold the game because he didn’t want us to continue in the competition,” one pupil is heard saying in a separate video clip.

As tensions escalated, the situation spiraled out of control, prompting the headteacher to hide inside his house, fearing for his safety.

He was later rescued by local authorities after neighbors raised the alarm.
