Wednesday, April 9, 2025 - Gathoni Wamuchomba, the vocal Member of Parliament for Githunguri, has sharply criticized the Kenya Kwanza government, accusing officials at the National Treasury of misappropriating Ksh. 20 million intended for a development project in her constituency.
In a statement released on Wednesday, April 9th,
Wamuchomba claimed that Treasury Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo used his
position to divert the funds that were allocated for the fencing of the
Githunguri Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) Institute in
2023.
The MP further alleged that despite her persistent
inquiries, the money has not been accounted for.
Wamuchomba went on to make a bold declaration, stating that
she was prepared to be arrested if her accusations were proven false.
"Thieves of public money are holed up in the Treasury!”
“In 2023, we allocated Ksh. 20 million for the fencing of
Githunguri TVET. The money disappeared! The former chair of the budget is my
witness," she asserted.
She challenged PS Kiptoo to clarify the whereabouts of the
funds, calling for accountability.
Her statements come just days after she was summoned by the
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over her "Ruto must go"
remarks ahead of President William Ruto's visit to the region.
