SHOCK as a Form three student chops off cousin’s hand while fighting over “sugar money” in Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County - DETAILS!



Friday, April 4, 2025 - A tragic incident in Aolo village, East Kamagak, has left residents in shock after a 15-year-old Form Three student chopped off his cousin’s hand during a heated altercation.

The teenager is currently being held at Kosele Police Station in Rachuonyo South sub-county following the shocking event.

According to local authorities, the suspect had been given money to buy sugar but failed to do so.

When confronted by his cousin - a Grade Seven pupil - he turned violent.

Kawere West Sub-location Senior Assistant Chief Daniel Odhiambo explained that the confrontation escalated quickly, and in the heat of the moment, the boy used a machete, severing his cousin’s left hand.

Reports indicate that the victim was trying to break up the fight when she was attacked.

Neighbours, alarmed by the commotion, rushed to the scene and found her in excruciating pain.

She was immediately taken to Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital in Oyugis.

Rachuonyo South Police Commander Philemon Saera confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
