KALONZO opens up for the first time about his ailing wife PAULINE - ‘I contemplated quitting politics to care for her’

Friday, April 4, 2025 - In a rare and deeply personal interview on TV47’s segment Fahamu Kiongozi, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka opened up for the first time about the health of his wife, Pauline Musyoka.

Pauline’s absence from major public events - most notably their daughter’s glamorous wedding in Naivasha in December 2024 - had left many Kenyans talking.

Kalonzo gently clarified the situation. “She came. We had two ceremonies actually - people didn’t know that.”

“There was a ceremony here at home, where Pauline came out to give her daughter away, because she wasn’t able to travel to Naivasha. And that was very special,” he shared.

Although he didn’t disclose the full nature of her illness, Kalonzo confirmed that Pauline has been unwell for some time.

“My wife Pauline has been unwell. I can’t do enough for her - to give her comfort and to wish her recovery,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.

Despite the challenges, Kalonzo revealed that celebrated Rwandan Gospel artist, Israel Mbonyi, had visited Pauline and even sang to her personally.

“The young man actually came and played the guitar for my wife. People know that Pauline has been unwell, and Israel Mbonyi came because she’s a Gospel singer. I think music runs in the family - I love singing too,” he said.

The former Vice President also shared that the Archbishop of Canterbury had once visited their home to pray with Pauline.

“Many friends have been praying for her recovery. We truly value this support. I hold the belief that one of these days she will stand and walk,” he added.

The Wiper Party leader admitted the thought of quitting politics to care for his wife had crossed his mind.

“With a wife who has been unwell, the thought has crossed my mind several times - to quit politics and care for her.”

“But I know Pauline wouldn’t allow it. She is a visionary; she knows where we’ve come from and what I still have to accomplish. So I keep going.”

“Quitting is not an option,” he asserted.
