Monday, February 3, 2025 - The Grammy Awards is being called out on social media after Beyoncé won the Best Country Music Album of the Year award on Sunday night, February 2.
Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” won a Grammy for Best Country
Album, making her the first Black female artist to win in the category. The
award presented to Beyonce by Taylor Swift.
Upon hearing her name as winner, Beyoncé could be seen
clearly startled, before she got up to the podium.
“I was not expecting this,”
Beyoncé told the room ahead of her acceptance speech. She continued, “I want to
thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years, oh, my
God! I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted
this, this album we worked so hard on… I think sometimes genre is a cold word
to keep us in our place as artists, and just want to encourage people to do
what they’re passionate about. And to stay persistent.”
But some social media users blasted the award organizers
claiming it was rigged because Beyoncé comes from a minority race and they
wanted to show that anyone can break racial barriers even in a genre like
country music.
Some alleged Jayz her husband, played a role in her win
while some said there was no way Beyoncé’s album was better than others in the
same category like Post Malone.
