Saturday, October 10, 2026 - A plan to ferry rolls of bhang to Nairobi concealed in mobile phone boxes ended in Busia, thanks to sharp intelligence work by detectives.
Acting
on a tip-off that narcotic drugs were being transported to the capital,
officers from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB) swung
into action and intercepted Titus Okware, 25, just as he was about to board a
Nairobi-bound bus.
His
small bag looked harmless enough, but a search told a different story.
Inside
were seven mobile phone boxes, but not a single handset was found.
Instead,
the boxes were stuffed with 1,121 rolls of bhang.
The
suspect was arrested on the spot and taken to Busia Police Station, where he is
being processed ahead of his arraignment in court.
The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
