Wednesday, October 7, 2026 - As millions of Kenyans struggle to make ends meet in the harsh economic environment, poverty has pushed some women in the slums to ‘hawk themselves’ in broad daylight outside their dingy mud-walled houses.
A
nosy Kenyan visited different slums and secretly recorded videos showing the
women engaging in the trade.
From
Majengo slums in Nairobi to Kilifi, some of the women, including those in their
50s, were seen sitting outside their houses and waiting for men visiting the
slums in search of quick paid encounters.
The
videos offer a glimpse into the difficult circumstances some women are facing
as they struggle to survive in the current harsh economic times.
Watch
the videos.
