Member of Parliament Vincent Kawaya has invited Embakasi East MP Babu Owino to join the ruling party,
citing growing discontent within the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Speaking on Wednesday, September 16, Kawaya said Babu and
other members who feel uncomfortable with the faction are welcome to cross
over.
He pledged to personally receive them into UDA.
“I want to invite Babu Owino and the
rest of the team who have been in Linda Mwananchi and have realized there is
nothing there; there is no plan.
“I want to welcome you to the ruling
party UDA.
“As the national organizing secretary,
I am going to receive you,” Kawaya stated.
His remarks came shortly after Suna East MP Junet Mohamed urged Babu to return to the Orange
Democratic Movement (ODM).
Addressing supporters in Migori County, Junet assured Babu
of ODM’s backing in his Nairobi gubernatorial ambitions.
“Babu, please come back home to ODM.
Let us build the party together so that we can help you if you want to become
the governor,” Junet said.
Junet further alleged that Babu had privately expressed
frustrations over infighting within Linda Mwananchi, a faction led by Nairobi Senator
Edwin Sifuna.
“Yesterday Babu
Owino called me, and he was crying like a three‑year‑old baby.
“He told me that he did not know that
those in Linda Mwananchi were taking him in the wrong direction,”
Junet remarked.
