Thursday, August 13, 2026 - A young man was shot dead by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Masogo Police Station after he confronted the officer with a panga during a night patrol at Masogo Market in Muhoroni, Kisumu County.
According to police reports, the incident occurred during a
night patrol when the OCS encountered the man, who is said to have been working
as a private security guard.
Police said the man ignored repeated orders to surrender and
instead advanced towards the officer while armed with a panga.
The officer reportedly fired once, fatally injuring the man,
who died at the scene.
Another private security guard who attempted to intervene
during the confrontation was also injured and was taken for medical attention.
His body was moved to the Ahero Hospital Mortuary pending a
postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances
surrounding the shooting as they seek to establish what led to the confrontation
between the OCS and the security guard.
