First Lady RACHEL RUTO urges Kenyan youth to embrace marriage after CHARLENE’s traditional wedding – “Marriage is a beautiful journey”


Sunday, August 23, 2026 - First Lady Rachel Ruto has called on young Kenyans to embrace commitment and formalise their unions, stressing that strong marriages and stable families are the foundation of thriving communities.

In an Instagram post shared on Saturday, August 22, 2026, she described marriage as “a beautiful journey founded on love, commitment, friendship and shared purpose.”

“Marriage is a beautiful journey founded on love, commitment, friendship and shared purpose,” Rachel said.

She encouraged young people to take deliberate steps to build lasting relationships, noting that she is inspired by couples who choose stability and family life.

 “I encourage more young people to embrace commitment and formalise their unions, recognising that strong marriages and stable families are an important foundation for strong communities and a thriving nation,” she wrote.

Her post comes shortly after her daughter, Charlene Ruto, held her traditional wedding with Tanzanian techpreneur Isaya Yunge at President William Ruto’s lavish Kilgoris home.

The ceremony, steeped in cultural tradition, saw the First Family formally welcome Yunge into their fold.
