Wednesday, July 29, 2026 - The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has intensified disciplinary action against its estranged members, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 29, the party announced Sifuna’s removal from the powerful Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC).

He was reassigned to the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, with Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo taking his place.

CPAC Chairperson Moses Kajwang’ further nominated Senator Joseph Githuku to join the committee.

Osotsi was hit hardest after being ousted as chairperson of the Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee.

His replacement, Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma, was installed following a vote of no confidence by committee members.

They accused Osotsi of unilateral decision‑making and failing to consult colleagues.

“We felt we needed to address the conduct and the way the chairperson had been running the affairs of the committee.

“It was an opportunity to put the house in order,” Nominated Senator Raphael Chimara explained, alleging Osotsi treated the committee like personal property.

Osotsi, however, dismissed the ouster as politically motivated, claiming he was targeted for rejecting the broad‑based government.

He described the move as a witch hunt.

Sifuna, for his part, said he was unsurprised by the reshuffle, noting he had already been warned of his removal.

“They are sending me to the Fisheries Committee, which they think is punishment, but I actually need to learn about Agriculture, Fisheries and the Blue Economy,” he remarked.

The shake‑up comes days after Sifuna was stripped of his role as Senate Deputy Minority Whip, replaced by Migori Senator Eddy Oketch, signaling ODM’s escalating crackdown on dissent within its ranks.
