Thursday, May 07, 2026 - A young Kenyan man has sparked widespread reactions online after emotionally surrendering his car to NCBA Bank following difficulties in keeping up with loan repayments.
Rather than waiting for auctioneers to repossess the
vehicle, he chose to hand it over voluntarily.
In a video shared on X, the young man gave viewers a final
look at the Volkswagen Golf, describing it as the best car he has ever driven.
He added that whoever eventually acquires it will be
fortunate, noting that it had been well maintained and remained in mint
condition.
His decision has drawn mixed reactions from netizens.
Some praised him for being realistic and avoiding the
embarrassment and drama often associated with repossession by auctioneers,
while others felt he should have attempted to renegotiate the repayment terms
with the bank.
The incident comes at a time when many Kenyans are grappling
with tough economic conditions.
