Wednesday, April 29, 2026 - The Orange Democratic Movement’s Linda Ground team found themselves in an awkward moment during the ODM Youth Convention for the Coast Region in Malindi on Sunday, April 26th.

What was meant to be a smooth engagement with young supporters took a dramatic twist when one participant, asked who he’ll vote for between President William Ruto and his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, confidently grabbed the microphone, and chose the latter.

The crowd tried to correct him as former Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho looked on in disbelief before swiftly reclaiming the microphone.

As expected, the embarrassing incident instantly became fodder for rivals.

Democracy for Citizens Party deputy leader, Cleophas Malalah, mocked ODM’s strategy, stating that the team had “gone to protect the ground before listening to the ground.”

The Linda Ground group has struggled to gain traction with the Sifuna-led Linda Mwanachi giving them a run for their money.
