Friday, April 24, 2026 - Rogue officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Nanyuki are on the spot following the fatal shooting of a young man identified as Kelvin Ngatia, also known as Mingili.

According to reports, Ngatia was shot dead by police officers under unclear circumstances.

Claims from eyewitness accounts suggest that after the shooting, the officers attempted to cover up the incident by branding him an armed robber.

It is further alleged that a firearm presented as evidence at the scene may have been planted by the officers in a bid to justify the use of lethal force.

In addition, the woman who was reportedly with Ngatia at the time of the incident was arrested and charged with robbery, a move that has sparked outrage, with claims that she may have been wrongfully implicated.

Calls for justice have intensified, with activists organizing protests to demand a transparent and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ngatia’s death.
