2026 - Suba North MP, Millie Odhiambo, has hit out at ODM Acting Secretary
General, Catherine Omanyo, who had accused her of “sitting on the fence” amid
the party’s escalating internal wrangles.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 29th,
Odhiambo denied suggestions that she failed to take a firm position during
tensions between the Linda Mwananchi and Linda Ground factions.
She explained that her stance was to push for reconciliation
and unity within ODM, insisting that normalcy must be restored.
“I took a clear stand for reconciliation and unity. Goons
were sent to attack me for seeking a strong and unified party.”
“Honourable Omanyo took a stand to take Sifuna’s position,”
Odhiambo stated.
Her remarks came after Omanyo accused her of siding with
embattled ODM Secretary General, Edwin Sifuna, following a viral video in which
Odhiambo claimed the party had mistreated him, inadvertently making him a hero.
Omanyo, who assumed Sifuna’s role in an acting capacity,
maintained that Odhiambo’s statement proved she had taken sides.
She further declared her readiness to contest for the SG
position, saying she had held fort under pressure and was the best candidate to
lead ODM.
The dispute comes as Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi called
for fresh elections to resolve the leadership crisis, arguing that Siaya
Governor James Orengo and Sifuna would likely clinch the top seats if the
process were free and fair.
Orengo has recently styled himself as “the people’s party
leader,” challenging Senator Oburu Oginga’s legitimacy at the helm.
