Media Personality, JANET MBUGUA, explains why millennials are a tired generation - “Nobody Warned Us Adulthood Would Be This Wild!”

Monday, April 13, 2026 - Kenyan media personality, Janet Mbugua, has stirred conversation with her bold view on the realities of modern adulthood.

In a post on Instagram, the mother of two described the current millennial experience as “wild,” noting that many in her generation were not prepared for the weight of it all.

She questioned why a generation that seemingly followed the traditional path to success, education, careers, families, still finds itself profoundly exhausted.

“How did we do everything ‘right’ and still end up this tired?” she asked.

While she acknowledged that millennials have much to be grateful for, from thriving careers to raising families, she pointed out the hidden struggle of balancing professional demands with emotional healing.

“Nobody warned us adulthood would feel like healing your inner child while answering emails, paying bills, and still trying not to lose yourself in the process,” she wrote.

She noted that the emotional work of addressing past trauma often collides with the mundane tasks of adulthood, creating what she calls the “millennial crisis.”

Her reflections resonate with global findings.

The 2023 Deloitte Gen Z and Millennial Survey revealed that nearly 39% of millennials feel stressed or anxious most of the time, with rising living costs cited as a major driver.

Despite the challenges, she remains optimistic.

She urged her peers to embrace honesty about mental health, calling it the healthiest step this generation can take. “Some days are heavy, some are hilarious. Most days are both.

“Still wouldn’t trade being a millennial,” she concluded.
