Thursday, March 26, 2026 - A 62-year-old Norwegian national was arrested in Kisumu following allegations of inappropriate conduct.
According to reports, the man, identified as Aulid Bent Ove, had been visiting a friend in Kisumu and was hosted at the residence from Tuesday, March 10th to Saturday, March 14th.
On the day he was scheduled to leave, he reportedly offered
to give the host’s two daughters, aged 12 and 8, a ride in his Land Rover
Defender.
The host agreed but instructed him to drop the children at
the gate as he went ahead to open it.
However, the situation took a troubling turn when the man
allegedly drove off with the children instead of stopping as agreed.
Efforts by the host to reach him by phone were unsuccessful
at the time.
He is said to have returned approximately an hour later,
after which the older child reported that the man had allegedly touched her
inappropriately during the drive.
The matter was reported to the police, leading to his
arrest.
He was taken to Maseno Police Station for further
investigations.
The suspect was later arraigned in court, where he pleaded
not guilty to the charges.
He was released on a bond of Ksh 100,000 as the case proceeds.
