2026 - Jubilee Party presidential hopeful, Fred Matiang’i, and former
Attorney General Justin Muturi on Monday, March 30th, accused
President William Ruto of plotting elaborate schemes to manipulate the 2027
polls.
Speaking at a United Opposition rally in Nakueni County,
Matiang’i alleged that rogue agents linked to the state were attempting to buy
voters’ cards and national IDs from unsuspecting citizens.
He warned young people against falling prey to such tactics.
“We have discovered that they are trying to buy ID cards.”
“Soon, we will issue the way forward on how to deal with them
because we cannot allow them to manipulate the elections,” he said.
Muturi, on his part, claimed that Ruto intended to exploit
irregularities in the voter register.
He cited a KPMG audit which revealed that two million
entries were invalid, including deceased voters and individuals who had not
followed due process.
“Those are the votes Ruto is planning to steal when he claims that
he will beat us with two million votes,” Muturi alleged.
The former AG further suggested that the Government’s
issuance of passports to foreign nationals was part of a wider plan to enable
them to participate in the 2027 elections.
On his part, DCP leader, Rigathi Gachagua, reinforced the
opposition’s unity, vowing to remain together until the election and unseat
Ruto through the ballot.
He urged youths to register in large numbers during the mass
voter registration drive launched by the IEBC on March 30th, 2026,
which will run for a month.
