2026 - Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer
Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has celebrated the remarkable progress of Mercy
Njoki, a woman he rescued from the streets after years of hardship.
Njoki, who had fallen into drugs and homelessness, was given
a lifeline through rehabilitation.
Sharing her latest photos online, he revealed that he was
able to reunite Njoki with her children, whom she had left at a children’s home
seven years ago.
“Through rehabilitation, she has significantly healed, and I
was able to reunite her with her children, whom she had left at a children’s
home 7 years ago.”
“Because she never went back to visit them, it is often
assumed in such situations that the parent is either deceased or in prison,”
Mosiria shared.
Adding: “The children had therefore grown up believing that
their mother was no longer alive, making the reunion deeply emotional and
surprising when I brought her to meet them”
Njoki is currently undergoing recovery at a local
rehabilitation centre.
Mosiria encouraged Kenyans to support her and others still living on the streets, noting that such acts of kindness can restore hope and rebuild lives.
