Sunday, 1 March 2026 - The media fraternity is
grieving the loss of journalist and photographer, Nick Kosgey, who died in the tragic
helicopter crash in Nandi County that also claimed the life of Emurua Dikirr
Member of Parliament,
Johana Ng’eno.
Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok confirmed the deaths
describing Kosgey as a gifted young professional and “a talented son of Bomet.”
He revealed that Kosgey was part of Ng’eno’s media team and
had previously interned at the County Government Communications Department in
2023.
Kosgey, who hailed from Kipkebe Village in Silibwet Township
Ward, Bomet Central Sub‑County, distinguished himself early in his career as a
versatile communicator.
During his internship, he excelled in writing, bilingual
reporting, editing, broadcasting and photography.
He was also a student at Maseno University, where he served
as chief editor of the student magazine.
Governor Barchok praised Kosgey’s creativity and dedication,
noting that his outstanding work quickly caught the attention of MP Ng’eno, who
recruited him as his personal photographer.
Kosgey became the driving force behind Ng’eno’s media
presence, producing impactful photos and short videos that documented the
legislator’s public engagements.
“Nick was the energetic and creative force behind Hon. Ng’eno’s media team. He was never one to put his talent to waste,” Barchok said.
