Ksh 10 million bribe solicited from TUJU by former judge JOSEPH MUTAVA was meant for Lady Justice JOSEPHINE MONG’ARE to influence property case - NELSON HAVI claims

Friday, March 13, 2026 - Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President, Nelson Havi, has made explosive claims regarding a Ksh 10 million bribe solicited from former Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju in connection with a property dispute.

In a statement shared on social media, Havi alleged that former High Court Judge Joseph Mutava had confessed that he was collecting the bribe on behalf of Lady Justice Josephine Mongare to influence the outcome of Tuju’s case.

According to Havi, the alleged Ksh 10 million payment was meant to sway the determination of Tuju’s high-profile property dispute, raising fresh questions about integrity within sections of the Judiciary.

Havi further questioned why the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has not taken action or issued a public statement regarding the allegations.

“Joseph Mutava confessed that he was collecting the bribe on behalf of Lady Justice Josephine Mongare. Why has the JSC not taken action or issued a statement on the matter?” Havi posed.

The outspoken lawyer also referenced a previous complaint allegedly filed with the JSC involving Justice Josephine Mongare and Justice Alfred Mabeya, claiming that the matter did not result in disciplinary action.
