2026 - Tragedy has struck a popular Kasarani-based matatu after one of its
crew members lost his life in a road accident during an out-of-town trip.
According to reports, the flashy matatu, popularly known as MadMax, had been hired for a
weekend road trip when the accident occurred.
The youthful conductor is said to have been performing
dangerous stunts while the vehicle was in motion before he fell off.
In the unfortunate turn of events, the matatu reportedly ran
over him, causing fatal injuries.
He was rushed to a nearby medical facility but was
pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident has once again raised concerns over the growing
trend of reckless stunts by matatu crew, especially during out-of-town trips
where safety regulations are often ignored.
In recent months, several accidents involving Nairobi-based matatus have been reported, with many linked to risky behavior by crew members seeking to entertain passengers or gain social media attention.
